This post is aimed for you: the reader. I need your kind help for my research.
All you need you to do is take a few minutes, get your headphones and listen carefully. I have attached a few audio files to this post. For each file you should write:
-What is the sound
-Whether it makes you feel any kind if emotion, and is so, what emotion.
-Whether the sound arouses any kind of memory, and if so, which memory.
example:
-Sound of water fall
-Happy
-Reminds me of a place in South America.... (give details of the memory)
You don't need to identify yourself, only whether you are a male or female.
*please don't look at other people's answers, and go with your instincts!

ReplyDelete2) Water boiling in the kettle - reassuring, peaceful - no one memory, but rather images of relaxation in being taken care of (it always reminds me of my mum and my husband making me tea when I get back from cold or when I'm tired, so it's many memories)
3) Text message - annoyed - morning commutes (I can hear it ALL the time on my morning train)
4) Interference - annoyed - only ever hear it when TV is on and it reminds me of TV being on, and I really don't like TV
5) Plane cabin noise - stressed - I hate flying but had to fly frequently to meet my husband before we married, I always go cheap early morning flights and was knackered, so it reminds me of the pain of travelling to see him only briefly
6) Telephone - no specific feeling - reminds me of old films
7) City noise - stressed - no specific memory
8) Some signal (I suppose a ringtone) - annoyed
9) Drilling - stressed - We used to have a neighbour who would start drilling at 11pm
10) Looking for keys and opening door - excitement - I'm always happy to get back home and see my husband and catch up, so it's always the sound of keys before we start chatting and laughing
11) Can't figure out what this noise is but I know it from somewhere... It's some tool I had used before - tired - Being in the workshop
12) Ambient noise in the street - not sure - nothing specific
13) Ringtone - annoyed - morning commute
